Since 2014, the standardised death rate is calculated based on the new age distribution of the European Standard Population published in 2013.
The data of COVID-19 (U07) have been added on 09.06.2021.
As of 2020 Unknown causes of death where the data for the cause of death is missing have been distinguished from unknown and unspecified causes(R96-R99).
Statistics on population events (deaths, births, miscarriages and terminations) are also published by the National Institute for Health Development (TAI). Statistics Estonia calculates statistics on population events for permanent residents of Estonia (including events abroad); TAI publishes statistics on events in Estonia. Therefore, the figures may differ somewhat.
