Urban settlements include cities, cities without municipal status and towns, rural settlements include small towns and villages.
From 2012 onwards partially registry data. Change in data sources in 2012 should be taken into account when comparing previous years with the following years.
Up to the year 2011 the data have been converted into euros on the basis of aggregated data (1 euro = 15.6466 Estonian kroons).
City and town settlement regions - cover settlements where most inhabitants live in regions where population density is greater than 200 inhabitants per km² andthe population figure in a cluster of this density is greater than 5,000.
Rural settlement region - covers settlements where population density is lower than 200 inhabitants per km² or regions with higher population density where the population figure is under 5,000.
Since 2017 data is calculated on new administrative division as at 01.01.2018.
