Life expectancy - the average remaining lifetime in years for persons who attain a given age if mortality remains unchanged. At the age of 0 - the life expectancy at birth
The year is indicated as a range of two years because the remaining life expectancy in this table is calculated based on mortality data and the average annual population of the last two reference years. If the calculations were based on a single year’s average population and mortality data, the indicators for smaller segments would be overly dependent on extreme values and therefore unreliable.
The methodology for calculating life expectancy, and other mathematical formulas used in population statistics are outlined in the methodology document.
Since 2022, places of residence determined on the basis of the partnership and location index methodology are used instead of places of residence recorded in the Population Register. This methodology relies on the links between persons and locations found in various registers (see also Implementation of the partnership and location index in demographic statistics). The change in methodology affects the comparability of the data with those of previous years and should therefore be taken into account when comparing time periods.
The data in the table are presented according to the administrative division in force on January 1 of the reference year. The counties for 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 as at 01.01.2018.
The data of 2006/2007 to 2011/2012 are recalculated according to revised population figures on 12.09.2014.
