The reference year indicates the starting year of the academic year for enrolments and entrants (e.g. 2024 = academic year 2024/25). For graduates, the year indicates the ending year of the academic year (e.g. 2024 = academic year 2023/24).

Previously only first-year students were considered as entrants, but from the 2023/24 academic year onwards, the year of study is no longer considered.
The number of graduates includes those who graduated during the whole academic year (in 1980-1990 during the calendar year).
Admission to vocational higher education and diploma studies took place until 2002.
