DEFINITIONS

Agricultural input price index expresses the development in the input prices for production of agricultural products.

METHODOLOGY

Statistics Estonia updates the weights system and base prices for calculation of the agricultural input price index once in five years in accordance with Eurostat's methodology. The weights system corresponds to the expenses structure for production of agricultural products. The base prices for the calculation of the agricultural input price index are prices of the year 2015.

Price information is collected by sample survey, which includes enterprises selling products serving as input for agricultural production.

Starting from the first quarter 2019 the agricultural input price index is published on the base 2015 = 100. To ensure the comparison with previous periods years 2015-2017 have been rebased to the same base period.

The agricultural output price index is published quarterly according to the Release Calendar (www.stat.ee) of Statistics Estonia.

The quarterly index has been calculated as the average of 3 months.

The annual index has been calculated as the average of 12 months.
