The procedure for payment of the benefit for temporary incapacity for work changed in 2021. According to the revised procedure, the employee co-pay covers the first day of illness or injury and the employer is required to compensate for days 2 to 5 of the sick leave (previously days 4 to 8 of the sick leave). The Estonian Health Insurance Fund pays compensation from the 6th day onwards (previously from the 9th day onwards). This means that three days were added to the period of sick leave compensated by the Health Insurance Fund.
Before 2011 the data have been converted into euros on the basis of aggregated data (1 euro = 15.6466 Estonian kroons).
