As of 1 January 2016, Statistics Estonia uses a new source of residence data and methodology for calculating the population figure, which have to be taken into account upon analysing changes. The place of residence is the place of residence stated in the Population Register, if it is left unmarked, the persons will be categorised under ''County unknown''.
